allt som syns är tyst (2006)
..................................................................................................................................................................................................................................................................................................... allt som syns är tyst / all that is visible is silent (2006), text mounted on windows, Yrkesgatsområdet in Hökarängen. Year 3 students from Malmö Art Academy did a collaboration with Konsthall C in Hökarängen, Stockholm. Annika Eriksson supervised. It ended with a site specific exhibition called HÖKARÄNGEN in the spring of 2006.

"Individuality has drawn itself back into the inner life; on the outside we no longer observe any of it" -Friedrich Nietzsche; On the Use and Abuse of History for Life
Strolling between the houses, glancing in at the windows, musing about the people who live there, their life narratives. Thus began my thoughts. All architectual history, information, statistics... but what is the story of the residents of Hökarängen? A particular sentence sticks in my mind. Light without shadows. Folkhemmet's - the wellfare society's - ideal. Light and airy. Build problems "out". Backrooms, nooks, crannies. Not here. No secrets. No hidden areas. Expectations relating to the new suburb. But things turned out differently.
There is a recidental neighbourhood in Hökarängen where roads are named after occupations. Sporting examples such as "Clerk Road" and "Bookkeeper Road". One book claims that "the architecture may be described as typifying Hökarängen, and typifying Folkhemmet's restraint". For this neighbourhood-based project, I sought to formulate text strips that describe what is seen, or perhaps eludes the observer.
det där inne skymtas / what lies concealed in there närmar sig försiktigt / is warily approaching vill gömmas bakom / seeking to hide behind alla bevarade hemligheter / all well-kept secrets himlen letar sig in / the sky finds its way in i bakgrunden något dämpat / in the background something muffled skuggorna omkring hör till / surrounding shadows belong
The text stripes were mounted on windows. Using self-adhesive lettering. The houses and the texts highlighted each other. And were equal in importance. Place and narrative.
